Follow the numbers

It’s very easy to just go for it when posting, blogging, tweeting, etc for business, but it does pay to follow the numbers and become less random. Timing of posts, quality of content, selection of the right message on the right platform – I want to get a better handle on this and hit it much harder from here on.

Where/who are the best sources of information to help with strategising this stuff? If you are able to help me out with some suggestions this would be much appreciated.

An interesting article from Prolific North where the BBC Director of News and Current Affairs is talking about providing better quality news to local communities. Would appear that the ideal route to do this would be to empower more citizen reporting and broadcasting through social media channels but will be interesting to see what happens next, if anything. I’m sure the quality of reporting local issues on the BBC has plenty of room for improvement.

Making news more local

Do you plan, create or do?

Very interesting article from Metro (20 Jan) passed to me about a project that attracts school-leavers to the digital creative and marketing industries with an interesting methodology. You don’t see job details and salaries when you first land on the job board – you are instead asked to identify what type of brain you have, i.e. do you plan, create or do? The choices you make are then matched to job roles that fit and jobs are listed under the same categories to make it easy to find a good fit for you.

Key learnings from 2014

(From the 6Talent blog)

The year of 2014 has been a great one as 6Talent has hit the ground running and made an excellent start. We’ve learned a great deal on the way and I wanted to share a couple of the things that might benefit all of us:

– Set big targets and work as hard as you can to hit them.

– Things won’t always go your way but learn to accept both the rough and the smooth.

– The people that keep everything running – the unsung heroes – should be treated like gold.

– The only way to gain respect from both candidates and clients is to give them the best level of service possible at all times.

– Have as much fun as you can along the way.

We are looking forward to continuing our success in 2015 and I would like to wish all of our candidates, clients, partners, supporters and followers a very happy Christmas and thank you for all of your help.
